Sarah Brainard, LMSW

Sarah is a Master of Social Work level therapist currently pursuing her credentialing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).  She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New Mexico State University and her Master of Social Work degree from Kennesaw State University.  Sarah has worked in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. 

Sarah has had the opportunity to help clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relational concerns, trauma, situational stress, self-esteem issues, behavioral concerns, and helping children develop appropriate social skills.  Sarah’s work experience includes a mix of social work and counseling.  One of the catalytic experiences leading to Sarah’s pursuit of becoming a therapist was her time with the Division of Family and Children Services as a foster care case manager.  Sarah also interned at the Cobb County School District in the social work department, Ridgeview Institute, and Price Counseling Center.  Most recently, Sarah grew in her work with children and families at a private practice agency.  

Sarah utilizes a person-centered, strengths-based approach and believes in creating a safe and supportive environment for clients of all ages.  Sarah draws from the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, solutions-focused brief therapy, reality therapy, family systems theory, expressive arts modalities, and play therapy but flexibly uses a variety of modalities to best meet the needs of her clients.  She is passionate about the holistic health of her clients and is an advocate for a healthy, strong, united family unit.  Sarah is also a non-denominational Christian that can include belief-based practices in therapy but is openminded to clients of all backgrounds and stages of life.

Overall, Sarah is committed to creating a safe, trusting, and supportive environment that honor’s her client’s dignity, worth, and self-determination and allows her to work alongside her clients and their families in the therapeutic process of healing, growth, and overall well-being.
